णमो अरिहंताणं, णमो सिद्धाणं, णमो आयरियाणं, णमो उवज्झायाणं, णमो लोए सव्वसाहूणं॥

अरिहंतों को नमस्कार, सिद्धों को नमस्कार, आचार्यों को नमस्कार, उपाध्यायों को नमस्कार, लोक के सर्व साधुओं को नमस्कार।

I bow to the Arihantas (the perfected, omniscient beings) the Siddhas, the Acharyas, the Upadhyayas, and all the Saints of the world.

वंदित्तु सव्वसिद्धे धुवमचलमणोवमं गदिं पत्ते। वोच्छामि समयपाहुडमिणमो सुयकेवलीभणिदं॥ १ ॥

ध्रुव, अचल और अनुपम गति को प्राप्त हुए सर्व सिद्धों को वन्दना करके, मैं श्रुतकेवली-कथित इस समयप्राभृत (समयसार) को कहूँगा।

Having bowed to all the Siddhas, who have attained the state which is permanent, immovable, and incomparable, I shall now expound this 'Samaya Pahuda' (Essence of the Doctrine), exactly as declared by the Shruta-Kevalis.

णमिऊण जिणं वीरं, अणंतवरणाणदंसणसहावं। वोच्छं णियमस्सारं, केवलिसुदकेवली भणिदं॥ १ ॥

अनंत-उत्कृष्ट-ज्ञान-दर्शन-स्वभाव वाले वीर जिनेन्द्र को नमस्कार कर, मैं केवली और श्रुतकेवली द्वारा कथित नियमसार को कहूँगा।

Having bowed to Vira Jina, who is possessed of infinite and excellent knowledge and perception, I shall expound Niyamasara (the Essence of Discipline), as preached by the Kevalis and Shruta-Kevalis.

एस सुर-सुर-मणुसिंद-वंदिदं धोद-घाइ-कम्ममलं। पणमामि वड्ढमाणं तित्थं धम्मस्स कत्तारं॥ १ ॥

जो सुर (देव), असुर (भवनवासी आदि देव) और मनुष्यों के इन्द्रों द्वारा वंदित हैं, जिन्होंने घातिया कर्मरूपी मल को धो डाला है, ऐसे धर्म के कर्ता वर्धमान तीर्थंकर को मैं प्रणाम करता हूँ।

I bow to Lord Vardhamana, the creator of the path of Dharma, who is worshipped by the lords of gods, demons, and humans, and who has washed away the filth of destructive karmas.

इंदसदवंदियाणं तिहुयणहिदमधुरविसदवक्काणं। अंतातीदगुणाणं णमो जिणाणं जिदभवाणं॥ १ ॥

सैकड़ों इन्द्रों द्वारा वंदित, त्रिभुवन के लिए हितकर, मधुर और स्पष्ट वचन वाले, अनन्त गुणों के धारी और संसार (भव) को जीतने वाले जिनेन्द्र भगवान को नमस्कार हो।

I bow down to the Jinas, who have conquered the cycle of birth and death, who possess infinite virtues, whose words are sweet, clear, and beneficial to the three worlds, and who are worshipped by hundreds of Indras.

मोक्षमार्गस्य नेतारं भेत्तारं कर्मभूभृताम्। ज्ञातारं विश्वतत्त्वानां वन्दे तद्गुणलब्धये॥

मोक्षमार्ग के नेता, कर्म रूपी पर्वतों को भेदने वाले, और विश्व के समस्त तत्त्वों को जानने वाले (सर्वज्ञ) भगवान को, उनके जैसे गुण प्राप्त करने के लिए मैं वंदना करता हूँ।

I bow to the Lord who is the leader of the path of liberation, the destroyer of the mountains of karma, and the knower of all reality, so that I may attain those same qualities.

नमः श्रीवर्द्धमानाय निर्धूतकलिलात्मने। सालोकानां त्रिलोकानां यद्विद्या दर्पणायते॥

जिन्होंने अपनी आत्मा के कर्म-कलंक को नष्ट कर दिया है, और जिनका ज्ञान अलोक सहित तीनों लोकों को दर्पण के समान झलकाता है, ऐसे श्री वर्धमान स्वामी को नमस्कार हो।

I bow to Lord Vardhamana, whose soul is cleansed of all karmic impurities, and whose supreme knowledge reflects the three worlds and the non-universe like a mirror.

देवागम-नभोयान-चामरादिविभूतयः। मायाविष्वपि दृश्यन्ते नातस्त्वमसि नो महान्॥

देवों का आना, आकाश में गमन करना, चंवर आदि का ढुलना—ये विभूतियाँ तो मायावियों (जादूगरों) में भी देखी जाती हैं; अतः इन बाह्य कारणों से आप हमारे लिए महान नहीं हैं (बल्कि वीतरागता और सर्वज्ञता से महान हैं)।

The arrival of celestial beings, moving in the sky, the waving of fly-whisks, and other such grand displays are seen even in magicians. Therefore, You are not great to us because of these outward miracles (but due to Your detachment and omniscience).
