णमोकार मंत्र

जैन धर्म का सर्वोच्च मंगल मंत्र। इसमें किसी व्यक्ति का नाम नहीं — नमस्कार गुणों को है, इसीलिए यह किसी एक तीर्थंकर का नहीं, समस्त पंच परमेष्ठी का मंत्र है।

The foremost Jain invocation, and the first thing recited on any occasion. It names no one: the obeisance is to qualities, not to persons — which is why it belongs to no single Tirthankara but to all five Parameshthi. Reciting it is said to destroy all sin, and it opens every Digambara scripture.

• णमो अरिहंताणं

  अरिहन्तों को नमस्कार

  I bow to the Arihantas (the omniscient ones)

• णमो सिद्धाणं

  सिद्धों को नमस्कार

  I bow to the Siddhas (the liberated souls)

• णमो आयरियाणं

  आचार्यों को नमस्कार

  I bow to the Acharyas (the spiritual leaders)

• णमो उवज्झायाणं

  उपाध्यायों को नमस्कार

  I bow to the Upadhyayas (the teachers)

• णमो लोए सव्वसाहूणं

  लोक के सर्व साधुओं को नमस्कार

  I bow to all the Sadhus of the world
