1. Who We Are

Digambara Jain Encyclopedia ("the Library") is a non-commercial, educational digital library preserving and making accessible the sacred texts of the Digambara Jain tradition. The Library is operated by Tarun Jain. Contact: tarun@jaingranthlibrary.com.

2. What Information We Collect

• Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Google or GitHub, we receive your public profile name, email, and avatar URL from those services.
• Usage Data: We may log page views and reading progress to improve your experience (bookmarks, notes, reading position). This data is associated with your account.
• No Tracking: We do not use third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or cookies beyond the session cookie required for authentication.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate you and maintain your session.
• To send email verification and password reset links (via Brevo SMTP).
• To save your bookmarks, notes, and reading preferences.
• To manage user roles (admin vs. reader) for content management.

We do not sell, share, or rent your information to third parties.

4. Third-Party Services

• Google OAuth: If you sign in with Google, Google's Privacy Policy applies to data collected by Google during authentication.
• GitHub OAuth: If you sign in with GitHub, GitHub's Privacy Statement applies.
• Brevo (Sendinblue): We use Brevo to send transactional emails. Brevo Privacy Policy.
• Microsoft Azure: The Library is hosted on Azure App Service and Azure Blob Storage. Microsoft Privacy Statement.

5. Data Storage & Security

User accounts are stored in a server-side JSON file. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt (12 rounds). Sessions use HTTP-only secure cookies. All traffic is served over HTTPS with Helmet security headers. PDF files are stored in Azure Blob Storage with private access.

6. Your Rights

You may:

• Request a copy of your data by contacting us.
• Delete your account by contacting the administrator.
• Revoke Google/GitHub access from your Google/GitHub account settings at any time.

7. Cookies

We use a single session cookie (jgl.sid) to maintain your login session. It is: HTTP-only, Secure (HTTPS only in production), SameSite=Lax, and expires after 24 hours. No third-party cookies are set.

8. Children

The Library is a scholarly resource. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has registered, please contact us to remove the account.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Library after changes constitutes acceptance.
